Grows The Grass

Down on the underpass
Where grows and grows and grows the grass
Par for the brazen dew
And the slug that sits on a blade or two
And no one knows it's whereabouts
It's a secret safe from getting out
Down on the underpass
Where grows and grows and grows the grass

Down on the underpass
Is the sun that sets off the broken glass
Graffiti on the stairwell wall
Doesn't seem to bother the birds at all
As seen from a stranger's view
Could have been from 1962
Down on the underpass
Where grows and grows and grows the grass

Down on the underpass
Where grows and grows and grows the grass
Along with the slug or two
And the birds that think they're the fabled few
The moss growing three feet deep
Accrues in all the cracked concrete
Down on the underpass
Where grows and grows and grows the graass

It's beauty in an ugly place
